PHTA Pool Operator Certification
Why a CPO℠ Certification?
The PHTA Certified Pool & Spa Operators Certification is recognized by local and state authorities as the most widely accepted, verifiable pool and spa training credential. Each year, more than 30,000 professionals learn how to more efficiently operate safer aquatic facilities with this program. The CPO℠ Certification is valid for five years. This is an approved National Environmental Health Association course which will earn you 16 CEUs.
The CPO℠ Certification course will help you understand how to:
- Operate a pool more easily and efficiently — saving time and money.
- Reduce chemical, electrical, biological, and physical hazards — protecting users and employees.
- Comply to key safety regulations — reducing liability and risk of closure.
CPO℠ Certification requires successful completion of classwork and exam. Both formats include the chief industry resource PHTA Pool and Spa Operator Handbook.

Don’t have 2 days to be in class?
Prefer an online option?
You have 3 options to obtain certification:
- A two day in person course in a classroom setting
- The Blended approach: Pool Operator Primer online class followed by Pool Operator Fusion one day in classroom learning.
- Only attend the second day for a review and testing. Review would be on your own without the online primer.
- Fully Virtual experience, online primer, Review Virtual meeting and online testing. Extra fees apply.
